Artwork of Thomas who is a young detective from my comic Kalwa, he initially debuted in the Whitechappel arch as a detective hired by the police to catch the infamous Jack the Ripper. Throughout the story he and Kalwa both work on their own investigations of the Ripper, but they do meet up in the end.
More information on this character can be found over on our sister site, Kalwa Webcomic, starting in CHAPTER 16!
Happy New Years Everyone, and remember the most important part about this is… it’s no longer 2020! It’s time now for new beginnings, new goals and new… pretty much everything. We’re starting off this year with a new chapter and a new story arch for Kalwa. This is a really big one for this story arch will be introducing a number of new characters and new plot lines that will have lasting impacts on the overall Kalwa story arch. We’re no longer just indulging in a simple story’s, we’re now in overall saga. The first two pages of chapter 23 are now on the Kalwa Website and can quickly accessed simply by clicking the thumbnails below. If you want to start the comic from the cover, click the first thumbnail, or if you just want to jump into it, click the second thumbnail to instantly go to the first page. New pages will be added throughout the month, so be sure to check back.
I probably posted this much earlier but I’ll repost it here. So here’s the original sketch work of Swishy, Amber’s faitful assistant in organizing her heists. For those who are not aware, Swishy is a Barrel Eyed fish, which was a type of fish that I myself was completely unaware of prior to writing Amber. In truth I wanted Swishy to be a unique type of fish, so I sought out to find the weirdest and most obscure type of fish I could find. In reality Barrel Eyed fish actually have a thin veil over their face which covers their eyes. However this kinda of design would have made facial expression of Swishy very limited, so I sought to give him eyes anyway, though I still wanted them to be a little weird. However many of the early designs came out looking… kinda creepy. Thus Swishy was given a more Disney like look and actually became a little more modeled after a Dolphin than a Barrel Eye. He still does have the glowing face which Barrel Eyes do posses and I also designed so his eyes close diagonally. So that’s a little fact on Swishy.
We are SPEEDING towards the finish line people, just a few more pages left to go. This particular page update might be of great interest to all you Amber fans as it features a bit of “subtle” fan service. Click that thumbnail below and see what’s going in today’s update!
I’ve put a few WIPs on social media, so this is a character who will be debuting in the next story arch of Kalwa. This character is named Toshiro Sato who is actually set to become not only a major character in the arch, but in the overall Kalwa story as a whole. Toshiro is the son of a master swordsman named Hideyoshi, who started his own foundation in the feudal era and trains runaways in the way of weapons. Toshiro is not only his son, but his assistant in training new students. He’s also got a little sister named Miki who he is constantly trying to protect. I’ll be doing a portrait for her as well later on.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and hope everyone nobody got too sick on the pumpkin pie. Anyway, as a little return to regular life, we got a brand new page of Amber up today and this is a big one as we start to discover what her REAL plan was all along! Find out what it is right now by clicking the thumbnail below!
We are rounding into the final end of Amber’s long going one shot which I do admit has been going on just a little too long past the date I intended to finish it. But we are moving now and closing in on the end as we are now bringing this major heist to a close. And to keep your spirits all high, here’s a preview of the next page which should be coming out in the next few days!
It’s been a long time since I did a color image of Amber, mostly all the work with her has been in the comic pages. I admit that I kinda lost a bit of an urge to draw her because of all the work on the comic and I’m gonna admit that I made a mistake with the way I structured her story.
While I’m very happy by the positive response of Amber operating from a wheelchair, I feel I honestly have too many scenes in the comic of her confined to a wheelchair. The real fun of drawing a mermaid is having them swim in the ocean and playing with the flow of the body and motion. Simply drawing a mermaid being confined to a wheelchair as well as having to draw all the details of the wheelchair is not all the fun, especially when it goes on for twenty plus pages. So this drawing here is kinda the result of pent up aggression of not being able to draw a mermaid being free in the ocean for so long, and it really feels great to break free.
Greeting citizens of the planet Earth, hope everyone is still breathing after this rather stressful election week. Well as a little reward for pulling though it, we got a new Amber page up on the website, and in case the thumbnail isn’t obvious, Amber’s in over her head a bit. Click the thumbnail below and read the next entry in this one shot story to see whats going on.
