Saurasomon

It’s time now to revive one of the oldest ideas in my lifetime. This is Saurasomon, an original Digimon I created back when I was eight, though with a radically different look.

So as a kid, I always use have imaginative scenarios of being a Digidestined and joining Tai, Izzy and the others on their adventures. Even use to draw myself (badly) into the coloring books I owned with my own Digimon partner.

Originally this character was called Dinomon, but that name has since become the name for Tyranomon’s mega form. I was next going to call him Raptormon, but felt that would be too cliched given my affiliation with raptors (Green Raptor Studios).

Finally the name Saurasomon was chosen to better affiliate him with his planned evolutions. The word “saur” is Latin for lizard and has since become a staple for word Dinosaur. The name “Saurasomon” was created after finding another fan-fiction Digimon called “Saurmon.”

I’m currently finalizing the designs on his Champion, Ultimate and Mega evolution forms. I think I got the Champion form locked down, but the other two are still in need of work. I’ll be posting them up in good time, I’ve just had other priority’s getting in the way.

Halloween Draw Off Round 3

Round 3 for our 2024 Halloween Draw Off gets into some unique subjects. First up a little more of an innocent piece, the three main protagonists of Digimon Tamers Trick or Treating as their Digimon’s Mega Forms. This was inspired by a wallpaper I downloaded from Pintrest that had Rika dressed as her Digimon Sakyuamon.

Next up is our Owl House piece for the month, a crossover with Freddy Kruger. This was not originally planned as a Halloween piece, it was actually meant as a standard crossover for earlier this year. But I just kept putting it off and then when I couldn’t think of a Halloween Piece for this year, decided to whip it out.

Then we have the Balrog from Lord of the Rings. I said this year it would be all monsters and scary things, I never said it all had to be from horror related media. I first drew this guy as a lunchtime sketch I think last year and he was so much fun I wanted to make a real drawing of him.

More Hallowen art all month long.

Wargreymon

Just posting a little more work before this site turns to spook central next month. So here’s a piece I did of WarGreymon, my favorite Digimon. Despite my desire to draw him one day, I had no idea what to do for a pose. This was kinda just a spill of the moment, though I’m still happy with the way it turned out.

I am Sakuyamon

Yet another Digimon piece, this one based off of season three, also known as Digimon Tamers, aka the best season yet. The whole Biomerge concept is pretty cool for Digimon, the idea of Digidestined fusing with their Digimon and both enter the battlefield. It was also similar to Spirit Evolution in which a kid is fused with a spirit to become a Digimon. It was a cool idea, but was used in my opinion in a lame season, that being Frontier.

Anyway, here’s Sakuyamon, the fusion of Rika and her Digimon Renamon. Of course I was gonna do Rika, she’s my favorite character from Tamers and one of my favorite characters in the whole Digimon Franchise.

Diaboromon

Very recently, I’ve fallen into a Digimon group on Facebook which has kinda reignited a spark in me. Digimon was a major part of my childhood and it’s remained kinda that one special fandom I’ve grasped onto through childhood into adulthood, much like how people grasp onto Power Rangers or their favorite movies.

So here’s a recent artwork I did of Diaboromon, my favorite villain of the franchise. Debuting in the movie Digimon: Our War Game, Diaboromon is a truly fascinating creature. He lives within the confines of the internet and travels all around hacking into systems and causing mass chaos. His ultimate move came when he hacked into a nuclear facility and launching nuclear warheads at Japan.

I specifically remember when the Digimon Movie came out in the USA, they gave out free cards with tickets. My card was Diaboromon and I was initially upset cause I wanted his more heavily promoted previous form Infermon. Years later, I’m so happy I got Diaboromon, and yes I still have the card.

Triple Digimon

The heat here in AZ is really wearing me down. Mixed with the physical labor of my day job I’ve been coming home exhausted and really just feel like crashing on the bed and playing the switch. So it’s a little hard to sit down at the computer and work.

Well here’s a few more belated art works, all centered around Digimon. Yes, Digimon was my bread and butter as a child, and it’s kinda that special thing from childhood that I continue to invest in as an adult, similar to Power Rangers or Pokemon to others.

So we got my two favorite Digidestined, Tai Kamiya and Rika Nonaka putting the throttle on Digivolution. We also got one of my favorite villains Puppetmon, which is actually a remake of piece I did MANY years ago. This is kinda meant more to represent Puppetmon as he was in the original Japanese version of Adventure 1. While the American dub kinda portrayed Puppetmon as a somewhat goofy, yet still lonely, villain, the Japanese version was far darker. The original portrayal of Puppetmon was more like a sadistic psychopath with the mentality of a child. He loved playing rather dangerous games with his prey, such as a game of war with real guns, and relished in drawing out their suffering. He was also prong to temper tantrums and was more than willing to kill his own minions if they upset him, making him a somewhat more scary threat to be around.
