Brit and Maria

This has been sitting on my desktop all year unfinished and I really wanted to finally finish it. So it’s been a while since I’ve used my character Reptileena (aka) Brit. I’ve done even less with her partner Maria, so here’s a little revival of the two.

Those unaware of their backstory, this is a costumed vigilante team that resides in Scottsdale AZ. Brit was once the lead cheerleader at her high school till she was kidnapped and spliced together with a variety of reptile DNA and became a one woman reptile kingdom. Maria is the daughter of the Scottsdale police chief whose always dreamed of fighting crime ever since losing her mother at a young age. Together the two of them team up with Brit acting as the city’s mutant vigilante Reptileena, while Maria acts as her tech support assistant.

Tuscon Comic Con 2023

Pictures from last week’s comic con in Tuscon Arizona, our first con with published books. I haven’t attended a con in so long, and my first experience was EXHAUSTING. I was pretty much on my toes for nine hours which you would think wouldn’t be so bad given my day job, but interacting with the cosplayers and potential customers left me drained, call it a first experience.

That aside, the convention was a great success, in the end we sold four Kalwa books and six Amber books (there was also a sale off con just yesterday). Also got in contact with several other on tips for future cons. I’m gonna try to find a cheaper printer for the books so we can hopefully sell them at a cheaper price, hopefully even get a ten chapter Kalwa graphic novel like I originally wanted.

I’ll start posting products to my Etsy store soon after some personal life stuff. We’re a bit short on books at the moment though I do have a very small number as of now. If interested, send a message to our contact page and I can sell you a copy.

Reverse Flash

I’ve had an artwork of Eobard Thawne, the Reverse Flash, on my desktop for months. Just kinda sat there unfinished, and I finally decided to do something about it. However this would up being a complete remake rather than a finish. Had a lot of trouble getting the pose so I drew it in my sketchbook at lunch and then inked it at home.

Thawne is kinda a newly discovered villain for me, but he’s quickly become my second favorite DC villain after the Scarecrow. Thawne is such a fascinating character in that he is a stalker of his nemesis Barry Allen, the Flash. Fact is that Thawne is truly motivated purely by trolling Barry’s life and basically causing Barry to seek him. In truth Thawne is a fan boy of his enemy and by doing everything that he does, he gets to spend quality time with his hero, even if it is on the opposite side of his fists. Thus Thawne is a perfect bland of obsession and madness.

The Raptor Queen

New character I’ve come up with, the Raptor Queen. Originally this role was kinda an alternate universe version of Kalwa, but I’ve since grown kinda uncomfortable depicting her in such a way, and the concept is too good to waste, so I’m making it into an original character.

Her backstory is she starts of as teenage intern at an archeology site, she’s also incapable of talking, but can make various sounds. After the site finds a strange stone she is flung back in time and ultimately taken in by Raptors. She grows up in the jungle with the pack, communicates with them through screeches and over time starts to grow the pack into a kingdom from various members of the Raptor family.

I’m looking to do this as a stand alone graphic novel, that would be much like Genndy Tarvakosky’s Primal show, with stories being driven more by visuals than dialogue. For the most part only sound effects would be the written words of the book.

Time skip Luz and Amity

More Owl House art and more Luz and Amity. When it comes to romance pictures, I’m like never satisfied. I draw my heart out but then I see other people’s work and always get jealous, so I wind up drawing more and more. Lumity is of course one of the more common subjects I see, and I just have to throw my hat in the ring once again.

Shadow in the Night

I haven’t drawing Sonic characters in a while, but I just felt like drawing my boy Shadow again. When it comes to coloring, I don’t like to make Shadow all black. I draw a lot of my Sonic art from a certain period during the Archie Comics era when the characters were drawn with certain shades and tints. Namely issue 124 (Shadow’s first true appearance in the series) showed him with heavy shades and more of a dark blue tint. That was the first Sonic comic I bought as a teenager and it’s always stuck with me.

Kalwa and Amber Books

They are finally here! Kalwa and Amber vol 1 are now officially published in paper back. These books will be sold at Tuscon Comic Con this weekend at the Green Raptor Table. I’ll look to selling them on the etsy shop too, but they will make their debut at the con.

Both of these are manga sized books done on lovely high quality, gloss paper. None of that novel like cheap stuff seen on other manga. Kalwa vol 1 contains the first four chapters of the story along with a small art gallery, which includes a special guest art by KGFantasy and an exclusive art that I haven’t posted to the website yet. It also includes and introduction and some behind the scenes work including old sketches and backstory on the original concept when it was first created back in my High School years. The book will cost $30

Amber will contain the entire first story seen on this website, it will feature two illustrations in it’s art gallery and small essay on the character’s creation. The book will cost $20.

In addition BOTH books contain new dialogue and updates to the artwork NOT seen on the websites. As is tradition in manga, what you see on the website is the first version, kinda like manga in a magazine and the published book is the final work. We will also have a couple of fun goodies and freebies at the table this weekend. So if you are in the Tuscon area this weekend, swing on by, I’d love to meet you.
